The Prusa i3 line is based on the RepRap open source hardware, but has the capabilities, fit and finish, and attention to detail of a much more expensive printer. In a market awash with inexpensive printers full of crappy parts that wear out quickly, everything about the Prusa i3 is quality: a hot end that can print anything, a best-in-market removable bed, and a slicer tuned to make the most of the printer.

This is a professional-grade, cool-looking 3D printer enclosure designed specifically for the Prusa i3 you can assemble in about an hour, and works with a perfectly stock Prusa i3: no modifications needed.

The enclosure works by retaining the heat from the bed to bring the ambient temperature up high enough so that ABS and other filaments that expand when they cool are stabilized. If you add the optional charcoal air filter, the fan will draw cool air across the power supply where it is heated by the supply, and then gently circulated throughout the enclosure (providing a steady air temperature) and then out through the optional filter to reduce smells or straight outside using the vent adapter.

Note that because of the close tolerance around the power supply, the height of the printer must be stock for the MK3 with its rubber feet. Theoretically the MK2 will also work, but getting it to be the correct height will involve the user of one of the many feet available on Thingiverse.

How it’s Built
All of the plastic parts are 3D printed in ABS to withstand the heat from the enclosure. The panels are cut on a CNC or laser and then flat packed for your assembly. All you need for assembly is just a hex wrench and a small phillips head screwdriver. (not included.)

* Fits the Prusa i3 MK3/MK3S and the MK2 with DIY feet. It has NOT been tested with the MMU version.
* Acrylic spool holder
* 6mm acrylic front panel with frame, doors, injection molded hinges, magnetic latch, custom designed latch mount in ABS, steel strike plates, and matching screws.
* 3mm acrylic sides and top with access ports for cables and filament. There is no bottom. The enclosure is designed to sit on a flat surface that acts as a bottom.
* 140 screws, nuts, bolts, all connecting plastic pieces and miscellaneous parts.

I’d been keeping three 3D printers busy nearly 24/7 for a while and aside from the noise, it didn’t bother me. But when a significant other moved into the house she noticed right away: the smell of plastic permeated everything, and the long term effects of breathing in plastic fumes regularly can’t be good, especially on kids.

Since enclosures can both reduce fumes and help you make better prints, the answer was a win-win for everyone. But once you automate making three, its easy to make more, so I bought a few extra sheets of acrylic and put up a website.

I realize there are lots of DIY enclosure projects out there, and people build their own all of the time. In keeping with that spirit many of the designs are also available on Thingiverse, so if you want to build it yourself, go right ahead.

But for those of you who would rather be 3D printing than figuring out how to make a DIY enclosure out of Ikea parts, these kits are beautiful, furniture grade, easy-to-assemble 3D printer enclosures and accessories.

For not much more than the price of buying the materials you can have a beautifully designed enclosure that you’re proud to display in your office, living room or even the garage. All of our products are manufactured and shipped from Greensboro, NC, and created mostly on American-made equipment. We know our enclosures work well because we use them every day to churn out ABS enclosure parts.

Return Policy

EXCHANGE POLICY: Oz Robotics wants you to be happy with your new purchase. However, we abide by the exchange policy of our suppliers because we do not manufacture these products, our suppliers do. Please read the product exchange policy that is defined by each supplier for their own listed product(s) which can be found under the Shipping tab on each product page. Once you have used the product, we and our supplier(s) have the right to not issue a refund, but exchange for the wrongly purchased items, or products have serious and irreversible quality defect problem(s). REFUNDS and RETURNS: Oz Robotics accepts returns on a very limited basis, which unless there is a manufacturing defect. For any electronic items, returns are only accepted on devices which have serious and irreversible quality defect problem, meanwhile, the buyer/customer must apply for the returns within 14 days from the date of delivery. Before a refund acceptance please include images or a video, and any other material proof of the defect. However, we abide by the exchange policy of our suppliers because we do not manufacture these products, our suppliers do.

Please check our supplier Exchange Policy under “Shipping” tab on each listed product page. Other than our supplier’s default policy, once a return is agreed upon, then you can ship your defective item to the provided return address that you should receive from us first. Please ship the order in original packaging with all the accessories and additional parts. If the Required Parts are not sent back, then it will be billed for, or expected to be shipped at a later stage. And only once all items have arrived as a full system, then we can check the returned product for testing. Include in your package a signed letter stating the reason for your return and the original receipt as well as any above mentioned proof of defect, images, or a video etc. This will help us to speed up the process on your behalf.

The purchaser (customer/buyer) is responsible for all shipping costs when returning an item. However, upon receiving the returned order, we will assess the product, and if it is determined that there is in fact a manufacturing defect then we will refund the shipping costs as well as repair, or replace or refund the full amount to the purchaser if the product is not fixable.

If you wish to return a product, please do so within 14 days from the ship date for a refund on the purchase price, minus shipping, handling. Refunds will be credited to the original credit card use for payment in 24-48 HOURS after receiving the product back. We will charge 20% restocking fee.

Once your return is received and inspected, and if agreed for a refund, then refunds will be credited to the original credit card used for payment in 24-48 hours. Please note that we will charge 20% restocking fee if you want to return a product that does not have any defect.

Once your refund is processed, then PayPal will return the money to the card that was used. It may take at least 5 business days (depending on the bank and credit company) before your refund is officially posted in your bank account and statements. Contact Us if you still have not received your refund after 5 business days.

Do not return your product to our New York office. For any exchange or refunds, please email us first at support@ozrobotics.com for us to provide you with the steps that need to be followed.
