Investigations into the Decarbonisation of Railways
Nature has deteriorated and climate change is inevitable. The environmental problems faced by the transport sector, especially the emissions of greenhouse gasses, are rising with shocking speed. Railway transport produces carbon emissions at all stages, from design and construction through operation and maintenance to recycling.
There is a need to balance on one hand the increase in decarbonisation but on the other hand not to further deteriorate the environment. With the right approach, the decarbonisation of railways will boost efficient use of natural resources, protect the environment, and support the growth of the economy based on low carbon technologies.
